Industrial Relations: Employee Rights and the Economy download_trans.gif Download

Description:
On the 26th of May 2005 John Howard announced the Government’s plans to rewrite Australia’s industrial relations laws, arguing that this was “one of the great pieces of unfinished business in the structural transformation of the Australian economy”.  The Prime Minister would have us believe that industrial relations is the most pressing economic issue facing the nation. He argues that the changes will create more jobs, lift productivity and boost wages.  This is an exceptionally feeble argument, lacking substance and credibility. It is mere assertion, little more than media spin.
