Over the past decade, the Australian national economy has experienced successive years of economic growth, a significant decline in official unemployment, and relatively low inflation. Such features are regularly referred to as ‘unprecedented’ by the government and by many within the media, and are often invoked to provide evidence of the virtues of ‘liberalisation’ and ‘economic reform’.It is intended to publish a special edition of JAPE which will more carefully examine the political, economic, social and historical factors that underpin Australia’s economic boom.
